At Comp Sci High, students were challenged to move beyond the basics and design with intention. Every project was rooted in personal narrative and cultural exploration, pushing students to discover their creative voices through productive struggle. The result spoke for itself — 98% of students became Adobe Certified Professionals.

02 / REFLECTION
Teaching design.
When I started teaching, I thought I knew what an eleventh grader needed. My first year proved otherwise. Buy-in can't be handed to a student. It's self-driven, and it comes from identity and culture.
So I rebuilt my curriculum around who my students were. My goal shifted from teaching what would pass a certification to teaching what they could carry into their own lives. Lasting learning doesn't start when you teach a skill. It starts when a student sees it in their own world and uses it there.
It wasn't tidy. But the chaos created real self-awareness. Students got honest about where they were, and clearer about where they wanted to go.
